Here’s a little bit of history to catch you up;
Tiger Perk Coffee Shop is a pre-vocational job skills training program designed to meet the needs of students grades 7-12. The vision for Tiger Perk started in the fall of 2017 when Tiger Prep President, Steve Thompson, offered the support of Tiger Prep to help build a functional job skills program for students who have learning differences or are having job skill training needs.
Fast forward to today, and we are excited to report that thanks to incredible innovation, enthusiasm, energy and collaboration, Tiger Perk is up and running! Tiger Perk is a student-run operation. Twice a week, during the intervention/enrichment period, students receive orders, make customized drinks and deliver to staff at CFHS, CFMS, and CFIS. Throughout the District, the program has attracted more than 300 repeat customers. When Tiger Perk is not open, employees can be found stocking supplies, cleaning, taking inventory and supporting the billing process.
Tiger Perk Coffee Shop was in need of some improvements and we were lucky enough to be awarded the job! Millstone Management Group was ecstatic to help in this new renovation. Not only did we get to assist in the cosmetic improvements, we were one of three contractors that made a donation along with both London Road Electric and Thomarios who donated all labor and material. We all wanted the new space to meet the students expectations. It was nice to see other local businesses supporting our surrounding community. The space turned out beautiful and from what I am told the staff and students couldn’t be more pleased with the new coffee shop. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held this past Wednesday and they received well over 40 customers! Millstone wishes nothing but success to the future of Tiger Perk Coffee Shop!
We are excited about the new space as well.
Honestly it’s really the nicest coffee shop I’ve ever seen in any school, let alone a 50 year old high school.
We are very grateful for the level of detail work and the design and build quality.
The amount of preparation and work for such a small space is high, but so will be the educational impact.
Best and Good work to you and your team Robb!
